School Introduction

Come experience the natural beauty of Western Canada and the Rocky Mountains as you study an intensive English program in Calgary, Alberta. Enjoy fresh air, friendly people and wide-open space as you take the time to visit Calgary and its surrounding sites. Calgary, a city of almost one million people, is one of the most popular and growing cities in Canada because of its safety, clean air, fresh water and natural surroundings.

Calgary is a big enough city that it has every thing you need, with the added benefit of large parks, bicycle trails, and the incredible Rocky Mountains close by. Our activities may very slightly depending on the season, but there will be a focus on enjoying the beauty of the Rocky Mountains; summer or winter. In winter there will definitely be an opportunity to experience skiing and snowboarding trips to the Rocky Mountains.

Your instructor has been teaching in Japan for over ten years, with a specialty in preparing students to enter university or graduate school in English speaking countries. The school offers a variety of very high level classes that are aimed at preparing students for the challenges of their university career.

ESL Program Introduction

English for academic purposes in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, just 45 minutes from the beautiful Rocky Mountains. Specializing in high-level university preparation only. Our program is suitable for students who are preparing for TOEFL or SAT, or for those who are simply looking to prepare themselves for the challenge of attending university in an English speaking environment.

Classes will be Monday through Friday, five hours a day, for a total of 25 hours per week. Courses will include advanced reading, advanced vocabulary building, TOEFL listening, essay writing, and a speaking component which will work in coordination with the other classes. Instruction will aim not only at preparing students for success on the TOEFL exam, but at preparing them to be able to deal with the challenges of their future university careers.

Whatever the season, we will have both major activities and trips on weekends, as well as smaller low cost activities during the week in Calgary. You will be given an opportunity to spend time with your instructor during outings in Calgary that could include coffee nights, enjoying ethnic food, going to the movies or live theater, or even to a nightclub. Major activities will focus on the Rocky Mountains; skiing in the winter, and visits to historic sites in summer.

Housing: $30/day (1-24 days), $700/month (1 month), $25/day (additional days beyond 1 month)
NOTE: Housing is homestay with 2 or 3 meals per day.
