School Introduction

U.S. News & World Report:America's Best Colleges again ranked Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT)as one of the top schools in the region for schools offering masters degrees. RIT tied for sixth in the nation among top engineering departments whose highest degree is a masters or a bachelors. RIT placed second in computer engineering and electrical engineering, fourth in industrial engineering and fifth in mechanical engineering. RIT's College pf Business was ranked among the top 50 Best Undergraduate programs. The large 1300 acre campus is located in a suburb of Rochester, New York, three hours by car from Toronto, Canada and six hours from New York City. With 15, 000 students, the campus has excellent facilities: several dormitories, four apartment complexes, a large modern library, indoor swimming pool, indoor ice skating rink, weight room, excercise room, sauna, tennis, racquetbal courts, and more. ESL Program Introduction

English Language Center(ELC)students study 20 hours per week and enjoy all of the campus facilities. They live with Americans in the dormitories and eat at one of several campus cafeterias. ELC students can work on campus up to 20 hours per week;they have free e-mail and advanced level students may get permission to take academic courses at the university in conjunction with their English classes. Students go on trips to museums, nearby Niagara Falls, and parks. They enjoy picnics, barbecues, bowling, parties and playing on the ELC soccer team. Teachers at the ELC have masters degrees in teaching English or in a related subject and experience teaching English. We study hard and we have a lot of fun too. Join us!
