School Introduction Queen Margaret's, established in 1921, is a university preparatory school offering a Senior School for Girls in Grades 8-12 and a co-ed Junior School for Kindergarten-Grade 7. We provide a small and caring boarding environment for girls in Grades 7-12. Queen Margaret's is located in amongst the natural richness and scenic beauty of the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, a popular tourist destination. Our 27 acre campus features 3 residence buildings, natural forested areas, playing fields, sports facilities, an outdoor swimming pool, theatre, chapel, and nationally renowned equestrian facilities.
ESL Program Introduction
SUMMER
Queen Margaret's School provides Summer ESL camps in July and August that offer mornings of ESL instruction and afternoons of recreatinal activities and field trips to local tourist attractions. Instruction is suited to skill level and provided in small classroom environments to ensure quality education and individual attention. Students can register for our 3-week August camp on an individual basis, or groups can contact us to develop a camp that can be customized to fit their needs and preferences. Groups can determine program length, dates, and specfic program requests.
FULL YEAR
Queen Margaret’s ESL Program aims to quickly integrate ESL students into the full Canadian academic program. Beginner to advanced students in grades 7-10 participate in specialized ESL instruction and develop reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in intensive, small ESL classes while participating in other general course areas. They practice English while on field trips and in outdoor education adventures, sports, riding, recreational activities, technology training, and social events. Students are well prepared for the TOEFL exams and university entrance.
Our UPLink Program is a University Preparatory Program for students who have completed our ESL program and English-speaking students who need extra support. This is a mandatory program for students not achieving 65% or greater in the general English Program of their grade level and optional for students wanting enrichment to help achieve post-secondary goals. This program supplies additional support in comprehension, research, and writing abilities.

Housing/Accommodation Info
QMS has on-campus residence buildings available for summer students and also for international students who would like to spend a full-year or more attending high school at QMS. Summer Groups have the option of choosing to have a homestay experience. We will make all arrangements to ensure a homestay is arranged if this is desired.
